Thay may work on some weaker applications. I attempted to use them for mechanic work and they bend pretty easily.

Nice set of stainless steel thread reducers. I used one as a thread expander and it's great. It gives the mounting bolt I'm using it for more depth and diameter to reduce flexing in the uhmw material it's seated in.

Did the trick — easy to thread in. I used them to insert into a plastic intake manifold and it did the trick perfectly.
