These 50 foot cables were way longer than I needed but they do the job and work well

This review is for the Rualin 50ft DMX Cables, 2PCS DMX Signal Cables 3-Pin XLR Male to Female Stage Lighting CablesThese cables are great! I use them in a fixed install and based on their construction would recommend these for permanent installation where they are not in a walk path (mine are above a drop ceiling) or for wedding/mobile DJ setups where you can keep them out of a walk path. For bands that are touring and playing in different venues where you might not have that much control over keeping these out of their walking areas, you have a choice: Either spend the bigger bucks to get a heavy duty cable with much thicker jacketing, or for the short money that these are, grab a few of these and always have one or two spares hanging around.

As a sound engineer, I deal with a LOT of XLR microphone and DMX cables and I can be pretty picky about them. I look for a cable with the following criteria:1: The cable has to be rugged enough to withstand use on a festival stage with multiple band change-overs per day.2: The connectors have to work well, securely locking into microphones, lights and inputs, with positive connections.3: The cable has to deploy well without any noticeable degree of coil memory so it will lay FLAT on the stage, and also be easy to coil back up at the end of the show without struggling with coil memory.4: The cable should introduce no hum, nor should it have handling noise when being moved about. When appropriate for DMX use, the cable should introduce no signal interference. So lets take a look at this cable.1: The cable has a reasonable flexible PVC jacket and standard neutrik style strain relief. I have no complaints at all about the quality of construction. The soldering is well done, but the individual solder joins have no heat shrink tubing on them. I would not always expect that on a cable in this price range, but it is becoming more common, so to not have it could be considered a negative.2: The connectors are adequate. I've seen better, for sure, but I've seen much worse in this price range. That being said, they make good solid connections and stay connected when tugged.3: This cable has a bit of coil memory, though not enough to cause any serious problems. MOST cables in this price range do not do well in this category. This cable is above average for the price range.4: When used as a mic cable, The cable seems to reject noise and hum very well. This is probably due to the foil and braided dual shielding that is employed in this design. As with most foil shielded cable there IS a slight amount of handling noise, but it is far less than most cables in this price range. In DMX applications, no interference has been noted.5: The cable jacket is a bit thicker than most DMX cables I have encountered, especially in this price range.CONCLUSION: Being useable as both a DMX and microphone cable, I can honestly say This is a pretty nice cable that prices out well-below a lot of the name brand cables. It's shortcomings are few, and they are quite easy to ignore considering the price. It's a pretty darned good cable for the money spent.

Great XLR cables, were the correct length and worked just fine. Recommended.
