Who they are:

Rollin Haas has worked in agriculture, horticulture and landscaping his whole life. Rollin was born in the Central Valley in California, to parents who believed in raising food! As a child he was involved in almond and apricot orchards, along with multiple other miscellaneous fruit trees. His family had a garden they tended and enjoyed. They also commercially raised squab, and their version of back yard chickens, rabbits and a couple of steers and hogs – all organically before there was any concern for organic foods.

Rollin went on to college at Cal Poly and earned degrees in horticulture and agriculture. He worked in the California Nursery Industry for 10 years, then taught agriculture and horticulture for 9 years, before starting Master Landscapes in Monterey County, more than 30 years ago. Rollin’s friends and family, looking for answers to their agriculture concerns, affectionately call him “the plant doctor” picking his brain for tips and techniques.

Rollin moved to the Sierra foothills where he has a patch of land to grow and raise food for his family and community. Food for his community is one of his huge concerns. Rollin and his wife, Jeanette, are committed to raising food organically, and sharing the knowledge they have to help others. They simply believe that healthy food and nutrition is a big issue in this country and the world.

Jeanette, claims she is the “city girl”. They are actually pretty darn close to the Green Acres couple! She was born with a father who was a business executive, and she followed in his footsteps, getting her degree in business and running businesses for more than 25 years. She loves having healthy foods, and while on one hand was ready to leave corporate America, found that she loves the game of business and also the farm lifestyle. Now they find themselves engaged in planting and growing their own crops. They are both out of their careers and have stepped into helping others with their passion, farming organically, and serving people. Their goal is to blend the best of what they have to offer, to grow food and business, protect the earth, and help other people. Môpet Marketplace is their step into that world for them.

This stuff is cheap in price, but also cheap in quality. Within a week of being used, the red reflective started to wear off.

The reflective ribbon did its job! I placed it on string surrounding my blueberry patch. The birds would fly near but never landed to eat the berries. Now that harvesting is done I took the tape down and the birds are enjoying the leftovers. It was simple to tie to the string and lasted for the season.

We have a woodpecker issue and this reflective type tape should help keep them away from our house.

This stuff works. I've been using this in my blueberry field. I take 2 10' piece's of 1/2" EMT electrical pipe, stick them in the ground, and run this between the two. Give it several twists and with the wind its quite a show. However, the local bird's tend to figure it out.

Prior to hanging the strips of ribbon, I had at least one bird per week bounce off the glass. I the past six months I have had ONE! When friends come over and ask what’s with the ribbon, I tell them we are celebrating birds not hitting the windows. “Where do I get it?” usually follows.

We use this flash tape at our farm. I recently (2 years ago) planted 38 fruit trees, apples, pears, nectarines, jujube, you name it. The first year everything gone , I mean everything, even the leaves on the trees. I had many issues- birds, squirrels, rabbits, gophers. (See pictures of my sad trees). My solution was multi fold I electrified the area with temporary fencing, rabbits and squirrels gone. I caged the bottoms of existing trees and caged the roots on new plantings - gophers gone. I added the flash tape to all trees - birds now stay away- I think I will have fruit to eat this year. trees are looking good and so heavy with fruit that the branches are sagging. Now I need support to keep the fruit up. I will post pictured of the trees now as of 5/2019 with the flash tape on them for you to see. Have to take the pics on my next trip to the farm.

The sun fades this product faster than the Holographic scare tapes. It' s cheap, but won't last multiple seasons. One good thing about this product is it is so light that the faintest of winds makes it rustle. If you are looking for a lot of bird scare tape for a little bit of money, that works this fits the billI don't think it has as much flash as other brands, but it has more rustling noise.I like a lot of flash. But until we can read a birds mind, who knows what scares them more. I have used various scare tapes for years and have proven they work to protect my cherries. But it can' t work if you don't get it put up. use long lengths on the perimeter of the tree, low to high. I have found fastening scare tape with a cheap weather proof electrical tape is the cheapest fastest and easiest way to go. place on exterior twigs and at the end of the season cut it off with a pair of sissiors and store, but this product is very sun faded, still makes rustling noise, ask the birds if it still works.
