other wheels I've tried have been weak and flimsy. These wheels are sturdy and strong. I'm changing out any of my old flimsy wheels for these. Some racks have insets, and I just sawzall'd the bottom of the legs, and these fit right in!!!

Both these to replace the wheels on an old rack when the plastic/rubber "treads" rotted away. They work perfectly. Stronger/ bigger than the originals.

I read all the reviews saying it's difficult to push these in, or to remove the rings and use electrical tape. I have InterMetro posts purchased 20 years ago at The Container Store. On the inside, I can feel a seam where it's as though the rolled metal was welded. The trick is to line up that seam with the gap in the ring so there's room for it. Then I was able to push the wheel in by hand with no grease. I'll take it apart and add a light coating of grease just to prevent corrosion anyway.

Good quality. Smooth rolling with a brake to hold it where it needs to be. Tapped into the bottom of my ULine shelving pipe uprights. Used on a 48x18 rack. Fit and finish are good quality. Would buy again.

It was a tough decision to buy these, but upon their arrival and installation on my Metro shelving units, the superior quality was instantly apparent, hinting at greater durability than the threaded casters I had before. For those who often move their shelves, these casters are a game-changer, making every shift smoother. The locking mechanism is much more robust and secure than what's found on standard threaded casters. Note: that if your unit has threaded legs, you'll need to use vice grips to remove the threaded inserts before these casters can fit.

I purchased these for use with a set of Metro poles and found that the friction rings made it extremely difficult to install these casters. In my case I ended up removing the rings before I could even get them to slide onto the poles. This worked but as they no longer have the locking effect of the rings lifting the cart will cause at least one caster to fall out. It's possible if I crushed the lock rings more they might fit but I lack access to a vise at my storage building so can't test this theory.Setting the friction rings aside these seem to be good quality casters. The wheel locking mechanism works with a pressure pad that comes down onto the tread rather than pressing into the side of the wheel like cheaper casters tend to have. They do not have a king pin lock so will still swivel after locking which probably isn't an issue for most applications. The center of the wheel is shrouded so it's hard to tell if they use actual bearings but at this price point that seems unlikely.
