The set screw to lock in adjusted height doesn't last long to hard-core drummer like my son but would possibly work for a beginner set up.

Product is of very good quality, well made and sturdy. My only issue with this chair is it sometimes folds itself up a little bit if you are swaying and rocking too much, but if you adjust it and tighten it down it’s not a huge issue. Very comfortable and good height adjustments

After only a few (like 1-2) hours of use, the center rod/legs started to slip, which meant the center rod started scraping into the floor under the throne. There is not enough clearance from the ground and there's now a gouge in my floor! The chair is comfortable enough, but the legs do not hold up to weight (I'm only 150lbs!).If you plan to set this up on a softer surface like a rug, carpet, or foam mat, this may be ok, but I'd still be worried that that will be damaged as well.
