They seem to be of good quality, but they're too large for a standard mailbox post 4"x4" (3 1/2“ x 3 1/2"). If your post isn't a true 4", this won't fit.

They are selling this to go around the bottom of a 4 X 4 mailbox post to protect it from weed eaters. Is there any DIY person out there that doesn't know a 4 X 4 post is not really 4 inches by 4 inches? It's 3 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches. Yet the brilliant minds that manufacture this product made one of the L shaped sides 4 inches and the other 3 inches. They send you 4 of these L shaped pieces of aluminum and somehow expect you to make then fit around and protect a 3 1/2 inch by 3 1/2 inch post. Why wasn't the "L" made with 3 1/2 inches on each side? Did they just bend it wrong? They have a 7 inch piece of metal, which is correct. But 4 inches on one side and 3 inches ion the other. Come on. How is that right? I ended up putting the 4 inch side about a half an inch into a big vise and made another bend so that side would wrap around the post. It's functional but it doesn't look good. The bend I made isn't "crisp" like the manufactured bend at the 4 inch mark. This is not rocket science. I would have not expected them to get this so wrong. So the bottom of my mailbox post is protected from weed eaters now but it looks terrible. I think I just wasted $18. I know there has to be a properly designed product out there to protect my mailbox post. I will continue looking.

I could not get these screws to drill through the metal using my cordless screwdriver. I tried over and over with different screws and different methods. I couldn’t even first hammer a nail hole in to then try to add the screw. I had to actually drill a hole using my corded drill and running an extension cord all the way out to my mailbox. It wasn’t as easy as the directions and other reviews claim it to be.
