I've been trying pout different Olla methods for a few summers now. I find using the terra cotta pots work best in ground, not in containers, unless you have a huge container and a smaller pot (and the plant is not a plant that LOVES and NEEDS water; herbs seem better suited to smaller ollas). These reservoirs and terra cotta spikes work best for container needs. I actually put wine bottles on these as back-up reservoirs, so these hold about twice as much as a simple spike and bottle system would (absolutely a gods-send this summer with all of July being 90 degrees or warmer). The clay these are made from is much better quality than some spikes I've *tried*. Some spikes I've gotten are thin, brittle, and can't even support the weight of a wine bottle. These have nice solid walls, the glazed necks provide some extra support, too. They all survived shipping to me, something that cannot be said about some spike sets I've gotten, so that is a plus. The Olla system is an amazing system for irrigation, especially if you just don't have time or energy to water, or don't have the money to set-up and run an irrigation system through your garden. Also mitigates some risk of mildew and mold since it lowers the amount of water and humidity that comes in contact with leaves, and mitigates root rot risk since the soil and ollas work in tandem through capillary action to only secrete as much water as a plant needs at any point.

Perfect for small houseplants (or several for larger), these little ollas don't require much digging into a small pot, perfect for not disturbing roots. You can place them and then leave them in place and refill with a pitcher or gooseneck small watering can, perfect. They look like old world authentic ollas, just in miniature.I did receive mine with one broken sadly, but the other 3 are so fantastic that I was happy nonetheless. I will probably still try to use ceramic glue to put the 4th olla back together from its shipping fiasco.Love them.

Thank goodness for Amazon reviewers because I had no idea how to use these ZCXQM Terracotta Watering Pots without the assistance of instructions provided by various reviewers on this product page. With that said, these pots were a game changer for me because I travel often and depend on others to water my plants – plus I don’t have a green thumb and tend to either under or over water my indoor potted plants. I used one of these terracotta watering pots in a gifted Spathiphyllum (I think commonly referred to as a Peace Lily) because I believe I may have been overwatering the plant (the remaining leaves were turning yellow). When I returned from a 2-week trip, the Spathiphyllum looked healthier than when I had left. These watering pots have definitely compensated for my lack of a green thumb and prompted me to buy another plant to decorate my home – now that I’m confident the watering pots will help keep my plants alive and healthy.

I was excited to try these but had one crumble in my hand when trying to place it in the hole of dirt, the other three had no issues and definitely helped in the heat of a TX summer but wish I wasnt so worried about them falling apart with just a little bit of pressure from placing them in the soil.

I recently got these terracotta watering spikes, and they have been a game-changer for my plant care routine. As someone who often forgets to water plants or tends to overdo it, these spikes have brought peace of mind and healthier plants. The automatic watering system works like a charm. By simply filling the pot with water and inserting it into the soil, the porous terracotta gradually releases moisture directly to the roots. This means my plants are consistently hydrated without the risk of overwatering or underwatering. It's been especially helpful during hot summer days when the soil tends to dry out quickly.Setting up and maintaining these spikes is a breeze. The user-friendly design makes it straightforward – just fill, insert, and let them do their job. I appreciate how low-maintenance they are, allowing me to focus more on enjoying my plants rather than constantly tending to them.Their versatility is another highlight. These spikes have worked well in my outdoor garden, indoor potted plants, and even my small herb garden. They adapt to different soil types and plant sizes, making them a handy addition for any plant enthusiast. Moreover, these spikes are an eco-friendly choice. They reduce water waste by delivering water directly to the root zone, cutting down on evaporation and runoff. This not only saves water but also ensures my plants get the most out of every drop.Durability is key for garden tools, and these terracotta watering spikes do not disappoint. They are sturdy and built to last, promising to keep my plants happy for many seasons. If you're looking for an efficient and reliable way to keep your plants hydrated, I highly recommend giving these a try!

Two are doing great but the other 2 broke as I removed the caps after planting.Tip: don't put the caps on before placing water inside the pot.1. Soak for 15 min.2. Empty water.2. Plant empty pot (no cork cap)3. Fill with pot with water4. Put the cork on5. Rinse and repeat :)
