Works great with D1mini via serial link just using outputs D1 and D2. The displays are nice and clear and the back light can be adjusted with potentiometer on the back. One thing to note is that jumper can be removed to turn off the back light. On A few of Displays the jumper was missing and was loose in the bag so be sure to look for it if it is missing.

I had some blue LCD displays and they are not nearly as readable as these green ones, especially in sunlight. If you look at my photo that's winter sunlight coming through the window and I can still read it.I made no changes to my design and am driving this from a pico-w and was able to simply replace the blue LCD 16x2 module (from a different vendor) with this green LCD module and it worked without any changes to code or hardware. Nice! The LCD driver board (on the back) has a jumper for the LED backlight, so you can remove it if you want the backlight turned off or leave it on for full backlight. My blue ones from a different company didn't have this, so this is a huge plus to be able to control the backlight. The backlight draws about 15ma. I added a 10k variable resistor across these two leads and was able to easily dim the backlighting. A full 10k does not drive it to off though, but higher pot values don't give enough granularity. Either way this is a really nice feature. The contrast adjustment is done via mounted variable resistor on the back. The only minor little thing is the pins from the lower board extend out which might interfere with mounting. I simply took my side cutters and trimmed them down. Having the LED backlight adjustment makes up for this.Thumbs up. I'm using green in all my future projects.I hope this helps someone.

When the parts arrived, the I2C connectors on all 4 of them were bent. These should have been shipped in a box instead of just a plastic bag. That knocks off one star. Additionally, one of the displays would not show up on an I2C scan. The display itself appears to work - it lights up and shows the same pattern as the other three on wake-up. Most likely, it is a problem with the I2C decoder board. That knocks off two stars. I would return the whole group, but I need two for a project now, don't want to wait for replacements.

I remember the days when we had to go to an electronics store or wait six weeks for parts to arrive. Now it's two days and the parts are half the price of before. All the LCDS are flawless, well packed to prevent breakage, and all seem good quality with solid soldering of regular and SMB parts. Metal contacts are good quality. I have already integrated two of the units into a kit and both have been operating 24/7 for two weeks with no dimming of the display.

pack of 4, First part no display, dendritic growth around Analog pins, 2nd part shorted - USB port power overload also dendrites around solder joints - did not open other two packs. My guess bad flux or failure to clean flux after soldering ,
O.K.

1st. The display module had it's own I2C port built in. WHY does it have ANOTHER I2C converter board on top of it, beats me.2nd. As the headline says. The Lights are ON, but NO ONE Home...An instruction manual would be nice.
