Was planning on using a Home Depot bucket, but it is too small for the 4inck pipes. Changed to a 15 gal food container. Worked perfectly.

I used these with a 2hp dust collector connected to a 55 gallon drum. The result was amazing. I didn't expect that 99.9% of the fine sawdust would be collected in the drum. I though only the larger chips would be captured and the smaller particles would make it into the dust collector. Boy, was I wrong! this worked great! I used the paper template to mark the holes and a reciprocating saw cut the holes. I used gasket compound to make sure they would be air tight. This works well with the 4" flexible hoses. I don't know if these would work quite as well with a smaller drum, but if you have room for a 55 gallon drum, these really work well.

This item does exactly what I need it to do for a good price. Installed on one of those cardboard style cans and now I have a much easier time for clean out on my dust collection.

I used a Brute rubber trash can and lid for this set up. Very easy to install! I have a hole saw kit from harbor freight a while back and used the 4 inch saw to cut perfect circles. Also I just copied the template just in case I messed it up. Really didnt need it though. This was the easiest install I have ever done I think. The only negative about this is that it loses pretty much all suction when the can gets about half full. This is a bit annoying, but for $20 instead of the $170 dust deputy xl alternative, I can empty the can a bit more often.

I put this on a steel 55 gallon drum and I have to say, I'm impressed. Most of the chips, shavings, and dust end up in the drum and almost nothing makes it to the dust collection bag or filters anymore. I can vacuum my shop, collect from my planer, miter saw, table saw, sanders, you name it and almost everything ends up in the drum. I don't know if other people would rather empty a drum or re-bag their dust collectors and clean their filters, but I'd rather just dump a drum every once in a while. If you can get your hands on a cheap 55 gallon drum with a removable lid, then you're probably better off buying this than a cyclone style dust separator... unless you want to spend the extra money. I would definitely recommend to any woodworker that wants good dust separation without spending considerably more for performance that isn't considerably better.

Based upon other reviews I purchased this kit. Installed it in a 30gal plastic jobsite barrel and works great. I followed others advice as to the orientation and have had no issues while doing a good job separating larger debris and even a lot of MDF dust from getting to the HEPA filter. Gaskets were perfectly suitable for my application and took maybe 15min to get set up (including chatting and sipping coffee). I definitely recommend this product as an amazing money saver for your shop.

I love this thing. I got a 30 gallon metal garbage can and about 30 minutes of work and I seem to have completely solved my issues with clogged dust collector. Before using this my dust collector would clogged after two runs through a planner. Granted the collector is not an impressive product but this product makes it feel like it is. My only regret is is didn't get this the day I got the dust collector. Also I read the reviews and I installed one of the connectors in the middle of the top reversed and it works perfectly. I didn't install it following the recommended way so I can't say if that would work or not.

This is just what you need if you have a Dewalt DW735. I considered the ones that are already built into a lid, but then you’re running all over looking for a can that matches.I took the advice of those who said it was better set up with the outlet in the center. I have a couple of cyclone separators, but since this Dewalt has its own impeller and planing produces much more waste, I opted to do a dedicated can for it.Since the Dewalt pushes the chips rather than relying on a vacuum, I had flexibility in being able to flip the exhaust so the elbow was up top. I could then direct the exhaust air away from me.What I was not prepared for was how much force the Dewalt has. Rather than collecting in a vacuum, the can is now pressurized. The first pass sent cuttings everywhere. Since it was only secured at the handles, the pressure was pushing the sides open. Incredible. So for now (see pics) I’m just using a couple pair of spring clamps. Once I did that, it performed brilliantly. Pass after pass and I could see nothing exiting the exhaust. This thing is a win!I bought a 44 gallon Brute can, and I did have to clip the top intake fans with a miter saw to clear some of the moldings on the lid (also in pics). You’ll see daylight after you do this, but the bottom flange will seal it. There is no need to clip that one.I will be lookin for some cam latches to keep the lid down instead of these spring clamps.
