Our icemaker quit working so I went online and the suggestions were that it was the icemaker, so I replaced that.Still no ice.Next suggestion was the water inlet valve. I ordered the part and changed it.Still no ice.I searched YouTube and found a video suggesting it was this sensor. The video also included a tip that you can take the right hand sensor out of the fridge and jumper across 2 of the pins to make sure that was the problem.I did that and wonder of wonders, fridge started making ice again. The guy in the video mentioned that he had ordered the part off of Amazon at a significant savings. When I researched the part, I discovered he was right, so I verified the part number and ordered this. Works like a charm and I saved about 250 dollars

Installed it properly, everything seemed fine, LED working fine, says the system is all good and nothing happens. Next day, no system LED lights at all. Pull them out, look them over, seem fine so I re install them. System lights back on again, says its all fine. Next day nothing again. Don't know what's going on, it's like the PCB's don't like the cold?

If you're searching for this product, you likely have an ice maker sensing system that suddenly started blinking the red status LED two times and repeating endlessly, indicating the IR sensing system has failed.I searched for this part and found many options from either parts suppliers or Amazon. The genuine parts are ridiculously expensive so opted to try the knock-off option. When reading many reviews for the Amazon options, I found almost all share one design flaw. The layout of the PCB for the LH (main) sensor has the cylindrical capacitor soldered too close to the edge of the board. This results in an interference with the sliding on / off switch, which is really nothing more than a mechanical sliding plastic piece that blocks the IR beam, resulting in the "OFF" state. If you want a part that fits perfect and does not suffer from this flaw, this is the one to buy. The capacitor on this design is near identical in placement as the OEM (Whirlpool) part. I installed both boards in less than 10 minutes and was back up and running like new. We'll see if the parts last long, but for the price and the perfect fit, so far, I am very pleased. Good luck with your install, this is a very easy one for any DIY'er.
