I'm confused by the low rated reviews. Here's why. The bowl I received had no chips or imperfections. Using tuning software it is definately a D. Depending on whether you hold it by your finger tips, place it on the ring and on a table or hard surface the the intensity will change but I found it most often close to or on target as described. I did use a different striker as I mention below that I purchased on Amazon which gives a slightly different result than the one that came with the bowl. The packaging is excellent. The bowl comes in a very padded case that comes in a box that is then packed in an oversized box with stuffing. the key to singing bowls ... is closing your eyes and be in , being the point of contact , between the bowl and the striker . light touch , firm grip , do not control , do not let go , even pressure , let the song fill your mind and push out the world . become the place , be the moment . practically... pressure , not pushing ... do not move the bowl , but you will see th bowl strain under the pressure . clean the bowl to return its voice . she will sing for as long as 1 minutes after you stop . its always louder than you think ... and if you do it a week.... you will miss it for months

The sound is amazing! Playing the rim, even gently, produces a very strong song with very little effort. Tapping the bowl produces a lovely long lasting vibration and note; I like to place my hands near the bowl to really feel the vibration while it's playing. I've only had mine a few days now but I've really enjoyed playing the bowl to begin my morning and evening meditation, it really helps clear the distraction and brings me into my "self" quickly.My only complaint (if you can even call it that) is that there is no rest plate for the striker. As I understand it, strikers should not be stored inside the crystal bowls and I don't want to just lay it on the table for fear it will roll off and the dog will get it. I feel like at the price point it should come with some small resting plate or something. I'm pretty crafty so I'll make something myself with no problem, just food for thought if the makers read the reviews.I would absolutely, without hesitation, recommend this bowl to anyone looking to buy one.
