I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota and it gets quite cold here so I thought I'd give this a try to help keep my battery a little warmer than ambient. The material is thin and I don't think it is going to add a large amount of protection but anything is probably better than nothing. It would be nice if it came with a little more tape.

Worked like a charm! This was my answer to my battery always being dead when I went to go and start my car...As always, I needed to go somewhere, try and start the car 10 minutes beforehand and nothing. This did the trick....Praise God!We have had to reschedule appointments, miss appointments etc . . .all because of like I said..."You go out to warm up the car 10-15 mins. before you have to go somewhere...and all you hear is a "click, click, click" The battery was fine...I had some kind of "extra" item draining it in the cold winters too...But, found the BS "battery drainer" and that helped also . . .I put a piece of cardboard down, then the extra piece of "insulator" under the battery, in the battery holder... that may have helped a bit too . . .Take care . . .God bless Don the computer guy :)

Good quality thermal blanket to protect your batteries from the cold. Comes with everything you need to wrap a battery. I found it easy to install and has saved my batteries from the worst of an Alberta winter.

The product came with everything you’re going to need to wrap / insulate a battery. My personal need is for a craftsman lawn tractor that I use to plow snow in the northeast US. Whenever we get a snowstorm, my tractor battery’s always dead and has to be jumped. This season I installed a brand new battery then I wrapped it in the insulation. I really want this to work but the insulation as you can see from the picture, it is fairly thin. However, if it were too thick, it would not fit in the space that barely fits the battery. It does come with aluminum tape in order to prevent the insulation from slipping off. However, I did not apply it yet. Overall, this seems like the only option until I win the lottery and can store my tractor in a heated shed.

A cold battery is a bad thing as you can lose cranking power and not be able to start your vehicle. This battery insulator is not going to help in that situation. Your battery doesn't have an internal heat source, so isn't going to be able to hold any heat inside. That said, if you're charging your battery there would be an internal heat source so there could be a benefit from that. A trickle charger and battery heater I recommended if you live in extreme cold areas. This will extend the life of the battery, also improve the cranking capacity of your battery in extreme cold. This battery insulator is more designed for keeping heat out in hotter weather. Extreme heat can be very damaging to a battery, so it's best to shield it from the hot engine compartment whenever possible. Whether it's effective or not I can't say as I wasn't able to test before and after temperatures. I can say it is foam which produces heat transfer. It also fits tightly and snuggly around my battery. I feel as though there's going to be an improvement, however minimal, by having this in place. It will work well to shield my battery from the heat of my engine, so I placed the seam of the insulator away from the hottest part of my engine department. I'm happy to have it in place, but I'm sceptical about the positive impact it will have on my I took off one star as I'm sceptical about the science behind this.

I got this for my EV 12 Volt battery to help with the cold. From the picture it looks like a box that the battery slides into. What I got was about 1.5 feet of insulated wrap that I had to wrap around the battery and a small piece to put underneath the battery. The outside of the wrap is aluminum, which when putting on a battery is not a good idea because it could short out if the battery terminals make contact. So I removed some of the aluminum so that there was no chance of shorting out the terminals. It also comes with a 6 inch piece of tape to secure tightly. I hope it helps with the cold on the 12v battery.
