The woven pouches are very rugged, well-made with good Velcro. I've been dragging this one around on my keychain for months. There's no trick to accessing the face barrier, just open the pouch and take it out. While the pouch obviously is not sterile, the unit sits deep enough into the pouch that it isn't at all exposed to environmental debris. As you can see, the barrier is full-coverage, very clearly marked and elasticated to fit over the recipient's ears/face.

I hope I never have to use any of these but they are such a great small package size and easy to keep handy in case I ever do. I have one on my key ring, in the glove box of my truck, in my work bag, and hanging by the front door
