I got this for an off-label purpose. I make ceramics, and I made a sugar bowl where the lid fit too tightly after the glaze firing. I had heard that gear grinding compound could be used to quickly grind down the 2 pieces so they would fit together more loosely. I didn't exactly know how to use it, so I just smeared some of the paste around the lid flange, pushed the lid as far as it would go into the sugar bowl, then slowly wiggled it back and forth and up and down until the compound ground away enough of the material to where the lid lifted off easily. It worked perfectly in just a couple minutes, whereas sanding, filing or grinding could have taken me a couple hours or more. I am thrilled with this product!
