Item is listed as 4x4 inches and 1/4 inch thick. It is actually 3 7/8 z 3 7/8 inches and 3/16 thick. Quality of cut edges and holes is pretty good, but a big miss on the size.

CONS. As the title says, these are no where near 0.250" thickness. Probably overseas source since 0.193" is 4.9mm so only a few thou under 5mm and they've exaggerated on the 1/4" thickness. Yeesh. Fortunately the use I have for them accommodates the 0.193" and I'm a hurry or I'd return them.PROS. I'd buy them again if I need 0.193" thickness since the shape is good, a light tan coating is on both sides so it's very clean, the edges are clean and deburred...overall nice piece. Width is 0.030-0.040" under 6", but most applications I can imagine could accommodate that without issue. But the description should read: 5.970" square +/- 0.010" and 0.193" thick +/- 0.002. Sometimes that'll matter to me and others.

This steel is thick, and strong enough for me to use, to add wheels to my generator.

In the discription is says:"Steel Plate Dimensions: The dimensions of the steel base support plate are 6" x 6", with a thickness of 1/4”."Not true.The thickness is more like ~3/16"(~5mm) which is a far cry from 1/4"(6.35mm).Luckilly 3/16" just barly meets my thichness requirements....also the plates are ~5 61/64" sq (~151mm), not 6"Unless the discription is updated with the "correct" specifications, I can not recommend these steel plates.

I used six of these plates to create a "pinch mount" for outdoor lighting on a hanging sign. They were faithful to the dimensions in the listing. They drilled, tapped, and painted perfectly, allowing me to mount the light securely without drilling or otherwise damaging the original 4x4 metal signpost.

Totally happy with these plates. They were wrapped up in a paper that was coated in some sort of mineral oil to protect from rusting. I loved that. Also the quality of these plates is top shelf.

I need to fabricate some machine mounts for my home shop that will be bolted to concrete, these will work perfect for what I need. The plates appear to be laser cut and are just under 1/4” thick. The cutting is very clean and precise on both the outer edges and the holes. They did a nice job of rounding the corners to prevent sharp edges. The steel is of good quality and is packed in an oil soaked paper then wrapped in plastic to keep everything corrosion free until I use it. The plates will need to be cleaned of the oil prior to use. I recommend these plates to anyone needing to mount something to the floor or similar.
