If you need to use them for smaller items (ie - NOT extended), then these will do OK. Extending these exposes just how thin the material is. It also does not stay locked. Just a slight bump will 'unlock' it. If you use it in travel mode extended just a few inches, maybe use temporary glue to hold it locked.

I was so happy when I found these. I have been an artist for over 30 years, and have used a variety of tubes over that time to protect work. I am currently switching out some work on display and need to store some, a couple of them rather large canvas. So when I saw these, I immediately flashed back to the ones I had that looked exactly like this, and were sturdy like the old bank vacuum tubes. But these are decidedly not the tubes of old. I can't imagine you could get this plastic any thinner and still have enough structural integrity to form a surface. It's wild how flimsy these are. The twist action locks do their absolute best to just not function at all. I would not trust these with any works I value. At best these are for moving student pieces into storage in mom's attic. Wouldn't get again.

Made with 4 pieces, three are plastic to build the container, and the fourth is the fabric strap. The strap is adjustable and makes it easier to carry the tube, but is also part of the complicated expansion/lid mechanism. The other pieces are the base bottom piece, piece to extend the tube and a lid. I really don’t understand why they chose to make it with 4 pieces. It could have been easily made with a smaller top and a larger bottom piece which would have simplified the open and lock positions. This way it was quite difficult to figure out the locking system: each one, the lid and the extender was based on the same mechanism but the bottom one was very confusing due to the placement of the markings on the extension piece. In addition you have to open the strap to enable the lid to open and close, as the strap is attached to the lid and the bottom piece. I would say the container is mist proof but not water or long humidity proof. I feel that the diameter could be bigger, it really doesn’t allow for more than few (1-3) posters or drawings. It will protect your posters but make sure you do not place heavy objects on the sides as the plastic will not withstand heavy stress.3 STARS, Wouldn’t buy again.-> (*RATE SCALE*: 5=perfect; 4=minor imperfections; 3=on fence; not sure if I’d buy again; 2= too many problems; 1= shouldn’t be sold or is dangerous).
