True to size, laser cut steel plates to use for your welding projects. The plates come with a light coating of oil to prevent rust. Not much else can be said about some 4 inch steel plates but I think they're great to have a available when you need some mild steel stock.

These steel plates aren't as well-finished as plates offered by other vendors I've worked with. They're packed sufficiently, but more oil doesn't mean more better, especially if you're planning on using them right away. The advertised dimensions are surprisingly and acceptably accurate. Some sellers give imperial approximates for the metric cut product. We prefer working with metric units in our shop. A few corners needed deburring, which didn't take long, but took an extra step before passing over with a crimped wire wheel to remove the oxide layer.Although they serve their purpose, I'd pass on these plates because they require an extra step in prep. In my experience, other vendors offer better quality at lower prices, even in small quantities.

You can't go wrong with pre-cut plates like this for that random project. LxH measurements were as listed, same for thickness. They do feel a little light so quality of steel may be a concern, but I have no way to test that. And while annoying to handle, the fact that these come packaged well and heavily oiled is very much appreciated to make sure they aren't starting to rust before I even have a chance to use them.

I mean what do you say about a chunk of metal? Well, compared to some others I’ve bought online, this is excellent. It was packaged well. Lightly coated in oil, nicely wrapped in cellophane, placed in a perfectly sized box that even had styrofoam protection. This is pretty snazzy when you’ve had other items arrive in a nasty box, dripping in what would appear to be used oil, wrapped in oil soaked newspaper, etc. The metal was in perfect shape, with no scratches, dings, rust or scale. The edges are crispy clean with no burrs. Overall, a nice set of metal plates.

These are excellent thick heavy steel plates. Great for making your own magnetic phone stands. Work as a nice heavy base to attach the magnet too. Very stable and holds my phone at any angle.They come oiled to prevent rust in shipping. Because these are mild steel they will rust in time. This can be prevented by finishing them with spray paint or bed liner. Just make sure to clean the oil off before painting.They also make excellent targets. Thick enough to withstand quite a bit of force. I am always finding different uses for these.Magnets stick to them EXTREMELY well, so if you have a really strong neodymium magnet, make sure you place it where you want it on the plate because it's not easy to pull off once attached. If it's a strong enough magnet with over 100lb pull force, you might not be able to get it off.

I'm not welding these. I am lasering images onto them for display. They look like they came off of a ship from the future (SciFi). I recently donated something similar to a fund raiser auction and they will go fast, as several of the staff were already eyeing them as they were prepped for the auction.While my use is not as intended by the mfr, I am certain they would weld up fine (I did a little welding in college). Happy customer here.

I am very pleased to say that everything about these plates is exactly how the ad describes them. I have not included a picture because the pictures provided in the ad are precisely what you get. The measurements are 4 inches by 4 inches and the thickness is .24 inches, very close to the 1/4 inch stated thickness. They are clean-cut with no burs and ready to use. They are coated with oil for rust protection (which is always a mess) and they are, in fact, completely rust-free when received. I have not yet used to fabricate, but their look, feel, and weight, tell me they will work great for the structural support I bought them for. They are pretty fancy compared to the metal scrap I am used to, so I think they will make my welds look even nicer.
