The external foam filter is a great asset in aiding and preventing the larger bits and pieces from entering the main filter, a great pre filter.

Quality and fit are comparable to the Dewalt filter that came with the vacuum. The foam covers are a nice plus that should extend the life of the filters. The vacuum seems to pick up and collects dirt as well as before.
