About this item

  • NIOSH approved for environments containing certain oil and non-oil based particles. These include mining, shipbuilding, abatement, utilities. 3M recommended for relief against nuisance* level organic vapors.
  • USE WITH 3M 5000 Series Respirators or 3M Gas and Vapor Cartridges 6000 Series (with Adaptor 502) which are approved for use with 3M Half Facepiece 6000, 6500 and 7500 Series or 3M Full Facepiece 6000, FF-400 or 7800S Series.

  • For industrial/occupational use only. Not for consumer sale or use.

Product Description

3M Advanced Particulate Filter 2297, P100, is designed to make breathing easier while lasting longer. NIOSH approved for environments containing certain oil and non-oil based particles. 3M recommended for relief against nuisance* level organic vapors and for ozone protection up to 10X the OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL). Use with 3M Reusable Respirators 5000 Series or 3M Cartridge 6000 Series with 3M Adapter 502, or 3M Half and Full Facepieces 6000, 7000 and FF 400 Series with bayonet filter holders. When properly selected and fitted, use in a variety of applications such as grinding; sanding; welding; and exposure to lead, asbestos, cadmium, arsenic, and MDA for concentrations up to 10 times the OSHA PEL with half facepieces or 50 times PEL with full facepieces when quantatively fit tested. Warning: Respirators help protect against certain airborne contaminants. Before use, the wearer must read and understand the User Instructions provided as a part of the product packaging. Follow all local regulations. In the U.S., a written respiratory protection program must be implemented meeting all the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 including training, fit testing and medical evaluation. In Canada, CSA standards Z94.4 requirements must be met and/or requirements of the applicable jurisdiction, as appropriate. Misuse may result in sickness or death. *3M recommended for relief against nuisance levels of organic vapors and acid gases. Nuisance level organic vapor and acid gas refers to concentrations not exceeding OSHA PEL or applicable government occupational exposure limits, whichever is lower.

From the Manufacturer

The 3M™Advanced Particulate Filter 2297, P100, with Nuisance Level Organic Vapors Relief helps provide respiratory protection against exposure to lead, asbestos, cadmium, arsenic, and MDA. The filter is effective for concentrations up to 10 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) with half facepieces, or 50 times PEL with quantitatively fit tested full facepieces. This filter helps protect against a wide range of oil and non-oil based particulate contaminants and can be used as a prefilter for certain chemical exposures. The filter also offers nuisance level odor relief from organic vapors that are below the PEL. Nuisance level refers to concentrations not exceeding OSHA PEL or other applicable government exposure limits, whichever is lower. Do not use for respiratory protection against organic vapors in environments that are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH). 3M’s Advanced Electret Media (AEM) provides a comfortable lightweight, easy-breathing combination. Inventory needs and training requirements of safety equipment are reduced because this filter works for many different applications. In customer field trials, 3M™ 2200 Series filters lasted up to twice as long as standard filters. Initial pressure drop of 2200 Series P100 filters is 30% lower than standard P100 Series filters. Lower pressure drop over time can extend filter life. The 2297 is commonly used for welding, brazing, torch cutting, metal pouring and soldering. This filter is commonly used in the following industries: construction, foundry work, hazardous water operations, manufacturing, metal fabricator, and mining.

The filter works with a wide range of facepieces, including 3M™ Half and Full Facepieces 6000, 7000 and FF-400 Series with bayonet filter holders. If used with 3M™ Adapter 502, the filter may also be used with 3M™ Respirator 5000 Series or 3M™ Cartridge 6000 Series. The filter is NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) approved for environments containing certain oil and non-oil based particles. The filter has been assigned the color code “Magenta” in the NIOSH system. Passing NIOSH’s P-series test criteria, the 2297 P100 filter provides at least 99.97 percent filter efficiency. The pressure drop of 2200 Series filters is lower than the pressure drop of comparable competitive products both initially and during loading.

Breathing hazardous particles can pose a risk to your health. NIOSH, a Federal government regulatory agency, has tested and approved the 3M™Advanced Particulate Filter 2297 to help reduce exposure to certain particles.p>

These are great for all the ozone and smoke from steel mill oil being burned off. Obviously not a solve all, but they're better than the fake pink filters that every Chinese factory makes.

Perfect, and very easy to breathe through.I assumed it would be a little tougher to breathe with these filters, considering they're p100.If you're doing any physically demanding work I'd recommend these.

perfect. 3m never lets me down. the filters perform flawlessly. use them in yard to mow, trim, clean gutters, blow leaves and debris. no effects from severe dust, pollen, or any airborne particles while maintaining acre yard work during severe allergy season in florida. sanding, grinding, sawing, etc. no problem. easy to breath through filters and super lightweight. the 3m half mask and filters are lightweight, easy to assemble, easy to fit properly and provide airtight fit when following 3m instructions. quality and price are excellent. this respirator is par with the industrial respirators i have used in work place.

while some of the reviewers said there is no different with the regular version 2097, I personally felt it's easier to breath and less smell from the dusty environment I am in. I will buy this from now on

Favorite filter for ragweed allergy season. I can actually go to work and not get sick. Since I am severely allergic to ragweed, as my children say, you don't go to the doctor often, and you don't go to the emergency room at all. It worked great for going into my house after a house fire. I could smell the burnt items, but I did not develop a cough or anything. The mask cleans well and did not retain the burnt smell. I tossed the filters and I already have new filters for this fall. It is easier to breath with this filter system compared to a N95 mask, and you can replace the filters. I keep my mask in a plastic bag and usually just use one set for the entire three months without problem. I did lose one filter once, so I keep an extra set for back up. Holding your hand over the filter site did not work as well as the filter! Now I just need a Darth Vader t shirt to wear when out in public......

Very easy to breathe through!!! The pink 2097 P100's have too much resistance for me, so I've already ordered 3 sets of these 2297 P100's. I have chemical hypersensitivities and I'm working on a PhD in science (toxicology specifically, ironic, I know), so I have to be in buildings and classrooms near laboratories all the time, and I was hoping these would enable me to continue going to campus. Sometimes they don't seem to do anything, sometimes they just delay my onset of symptoms (chest pain + chest tightness), but sometimes these filters do prevent my symptoms entirely - they even enabled me to be in a house with new paint smell without smelling a thing or getting pain. These filters definitely block out odors really well. And the doctors haven't figured out the mechanism of my sensitivities (I seem to react to low molecular weight compounds, whether I can smell them or not), so I can't really fault the filters much. Overall these filters have given me back some of my freedom and I'm happy with them. I definitely recommend these to anyone who has lung issues and need something with low resistance!!
