Tough and ready-to-use, 3M Fire Barrier Sealant CP 25WB+ is a high-performance, one-component, latex-based, intumescent sealant that dries to form a monolithic firestop seal. This sealant also acts as a barrier to airborne sound transmission. As penetrants are exposed to fire, the unique intumescent property of this material allows 3M Fire Barrier Sealant CP 25WB+ to expand and help maintain a firestop penetration seal for up to 4 hours. This sealant is designed to help control the spread of fire, smoke and noxious gases before, during and after exposure to a fire when installed in accordance with a listed through-penetration or fire-resistive joint assembly system (STC-Rating of 54 when tested in a STC 54-rated wall assembly). This sealant is easy to use in a caulking gun. It is easy to smooth and cleans up quickly. I am confident and happy the cracks in my fireplace bricks are sealed for the season.

I cannot speak to it's fire rating as we have not had a fire but this product's consistency, spreadablility and use of fiber in the mix creates the perfect product for us. We use it to fill gaps in a woodstove. And also spread on wood that is near a stove vent pipe. It does not get super hot but we take all precautions. This goes on good with gloved fingers, a good thickness and the fibers keep it where you put it.

This is what was needed for my house build . It's easy to use but a little messy . The pressure on the caulk gun makes this ooze out super fast But after once use I got the hang of it

Was used to seal pipes and holes in a commercial setting. Have to agree with other reviewers that after squeezing and releasing, the tube will still dispense about 5-6 inches of caulk, so watch where you put it.Cleans up with water while fresh.

This is my go-to fire caulk. Easy to throw in a standard caulk gun and go to work plugging cable penetrations in fire/smoke walls. It does make a bit of a mess, so I use it during rough construction, and I use the 3M Fire Barrier Moldable Putty Stix ( for remodels or when ending up with red marks all over everything is frowned upon.
