With this product attached to a red head bolt, I was able to anchor fence wires to boulders. The product was worth the cost and arrived quickly.

Great Design Concept – Good Quality ManufacturingThese Eye Nuts are certainly heavy duty being made of very thick metal. There are NO strength grade ratings provided stamped or embossed in the metal. With no strength grade ratings these are not OSHA compliant for a job site. Information of Load Rating was provided in the website description quoting verbatim, “Working Load Limit (WLL): 440Lb”. I cannot tell if these Eye Nuts are simply cast or forged. It is normal for formed metal to have sharp burrs created in the manufacturing process. However, someone along the assembly line is supposed to be assigned the job of removing those burrs. Then someone else is supposed to be assigned the job of inspecting the burr removal for Quality Control. Both of those guys SUCCEEDED at their jobs such that there WERE NO sharp burrs. Eye Nuts are made for using with ropes for cargo lifting or tie down. Any sharp burrs inside, or outside, would cut and fray your ropes.. Apparently the manufacturer can be rightfully proud of this superior product and has high Quality Control inspection standards.A lifting Eye Nut has all kinds of rules for where you apply the lifting force. I always tie my ropes to pull straight against the end of the loop with as little side pull as possible. I am embarrassed to admit that I live in the state that has the infamous notoriety of being the state with the most vehicle fatality accidents caused by trailers getting loose and stuff flying off of trucks from “failure to properly secure your load”. I will not be contributing to that statistic because my loads will always be properly secured. I continually check and recheck my load binding for absolutely secure binding. If you do not properly secure your loads and constantly monitor your bindings, you are risking other people’s lives. After the accident, imagine trying to claim that you had your load properly secured. Imagine the charges the highway patrol will give you. Imagine how much fun the Wrongful Death Attorney is going to have prosecuting your negligence.

The eye bolts are nicely finished, threaded part seems on size and fit well on 1/2" bolts and there are no sharp edges. One out of four had a slight wire burr at the top of the threaded hole after running a bolt through but it was very fine and just rubbed off -The finish is smooth enough I am not at all worried about using nylon straps or slings through the eye - its not going to abrade the sling.I can't vouch for the load strength but nothing makes me think it has any issues -I'll be using them to move fixtures on and off a milling machine.
