However, the user is reminded that it should not be used to lift loads that exceed the rated capacity. The material type C4-4140 used in ADB Safety Engineered Hoist Ring components conform to the chemical requirements of Mil-S-5626, AMS-2301, ASTM A-331, ASTM A-322. They are designed to exceed the following military specifications and ASTM standards: MIL-STD-1365, General design criteria for handling equipment associated with weapons systems; Mil-STD-209C, Slinging and tie down provisions for lifting and tying down military equipment; ASME B30.26, Safety Standards for cableways. cranes, derricts, hosts, hooks, lacks and slings. The surface finish is Black Oxide per MIL-DTL-13924B. They are not exposed to any equipment or material known or suspected of having Mercury or Polychlorinated Biphenyls. Hoist rings are magnetic particle inspected in accordance with ASTM E 1444. Rings are neat treated to 36-48 Rc per mIL-H-6875. Meets Military Specification No. MIL-STD 209, Meets ANSI/ASME B30.26. Heavy Duty Hoist Rings are specified and used in nuclear energy equipment.

A cautionary note. This particular model has a 1" thread depth, which is NOT long enough to mount through a standard Class III hitch (the plate of which is pushing 3/4" thick) and get sufficient coverage for a flange nut to grab hold. You will need at the minimum a hoist ring with a 1-1/2" thread depth to mount it. This would be an American Drill Bushing 33717 Heavy Duty Swivel Hoist Ring, available through Amazon at $70.99, a little more expensive than this part. You will be also be looking for a 3/4"-10 locking (serrated) flange nut, Grade 8, also available through Amazon, at just over $1.00 each in lots of 10. The attachment needs to be torqued to 100 ft-lbs to maintain the rated 5,000 lb pulling load, which is a goodly amount. Borrow a torque wrench to make sure you have enough twisting force.

Does what it is supposed to. Good quality. Much cheaper than ordered it from a local distributor such as Grainger.
