I actually got this on accident thinking it was a tape measure. Then i ended up making lines with it down my fence... Does the job it's intended for tho. For its price id say its about average.

This is an excellent quality tool! I love that there was minimal packaging, less for me to throw away. 4 screws very obvious hold this together, so it's easily serviceable. All the metal parts look to be stainless steel. The plastic feels tough and it feels like it can handle the abuse of real world use. The line itself is tightly woven and has just a little bit of elastic stretch so it can do its job of being straight and stretching and snapping. The rubber cap fits real securely. I'm not worried about little details like some mold flashing on the plastic parts, who cares, this thing is excellent for any amount, so it's a great value!

I recently got this chalk reel and have mixed feelings about it. It's compact, about the size of the palm of your hand, which makes it easy to handle and store. The orange color makes it easy to see and locate in a bag of tools. The folding handle/reel is a nice feature (for compact storing), and the reel itself spins smoothly, making it effortless to use.However, there are a few drawbacks. The reel doesn't come with chalk or instructions, so you’ll need to buy the chalk separately to fill. To add chalk, you have to remove the black top, which is a bit hard to pull off. The neck where you pour in the chalk is pretty small, so it can be tricky to get the chalk in without making a mess. Another issue is the seam that holds the two halves of the reel together—it has a slight gap near the top. This seems like a potential spot for chalk to leak out during use, though I haven’t had significant issues yet.Overall, it gets the job done, but these small design flaws keep it from being perfect.

This seems tough and nicely made. It feels solid and reels in smoothly.I like that it reels in quickly but not super fast or slow like some others I've had.It holds lots of chalk and the line holds a nice amount. You can pop several lines before re-chalking. *It takes a few uses before the line is good and loaded and you have to pop the first lines softly.The fill plug snaps on nice and tight and stays put. It's friction fit, no threads. It has a metal grommet to protect form wear.They didn't skimp on the string either. It's nice 'chalk line' string. Not that cheap twine I've seen.
