Habits That Could Ruin A Clutch

1.Driving too slowly: A clutch starts to engage in the Engagement Speed. Driving at full throttle gives the clutch a chance to cool down. Full throttle locks the shoes in the clutch against the drum. When the clutch is not locked up, it will cause tremendous heat which dries up the lubrication in the oil impregnated bushing and damage the clutch.

2.Short stop and go driving: The longer you drive at full throttle the better off it is for the clutch, because it gives it a chance to cool off before the next engagement.

3.Driving with the foot on the brake: Drive with one foot on the pedal, be it the brake or the gas but not to press on both pedals at the same time.

4.Changing the size of the tires: Putting on tires that are larger than what came with the kart will cause premature wear to the clutch.

5.Restrictions: Don't try and reduce a go kart speed by limiting the travel of the gas pedal or by putting a restrictor in the carburetor to limit full rpm. Either of these methods will result in the clutch slipping, which is self destructive.

Inside diameter of hole is too small. Tried to make it fit but had to reuse some of old parts to make it work. Belt was incorrect as well. Description said one thing and what was sent was another.

I thought a knockoff Comet wouldn’t last long, but to my surprise, it has lasted longer. It seems to be higher quality than other knockoffs I’ve tried.

Fits perfectly and works flawlessly. I wanted to keep the Jack shaft setup and did a little research before ordering because some of the reviewers don't seem to realize there are larger bore, smaller bore, metric, made for TAV, so get your calipers out.

This product has worked to stop belt breakage on our Coleman KT196 Go Kart, however the parts weren't milled properly. The keyway was not fully milled which causes the parts to improperly slide together. DO NOT FORCE IT!! If you force the keyway to mate you will bent the rod. I had to file the keyway channel on the torque converter to allow it to slide. You need a thin enough file to be able to get it in the channel without rounding off the corners. There is a similar issue with the back plate on the clutch where the new plate will not fit. I had to reuse the original back plate. Also keep in mind that the new back plate does not have the two roller bearings, it uses a wide brass ring instead. So truthfully I was happier with the original as I feel it will have less issues with friction.I have also noticed that the go kart runs slightly slower now. My son doesn't care because he is just happy to ride again, but it was noticeable to me. All in all, for the price I was happy, but if you are not comfortable or if you didn't know you could file the keyway this set would have not been able to have been used.
