This appears beefy enough, but the cheap aluminum safety latch broke the first time I yanked on the chain the wrong way. I was able to bend it back, but shouldn't have to. I wouldn't call it "junk", but even at this low price point, I wouldn't trust it for something serious like lifting anything close to the three tons it is rated at. Do yourself a favor and spend some extra cash and get one that is better made.

What can I say? This is a 3-ton lifting hook only limited by the weakest link in your setup. I can’t speak to whether it will manage 3 tons and one pound, but it should handle about every other lifting task assigned to it!

I’m adding this to my vehicle recovery bag which is also used to steer trees I fell. Both activities usually involve pullies, chains, cables, clevises and hooks. What attracted me to this hook is it’s rating and swivel feature. A lot of times cables and straps want to twist as the load is increased; this hook will allow that.It’s rated to lift 6610 pounds. Most hooks in this price range will instruct it is NOT to be used for lifting. Whether it’s a matter of quality or liability it gives me confidence it will meet my needs.

I don't understand the high star reviews. The nut at the top is poorly welded. The safety latch is a weak aluminum that bends. This is junk!! I would return this if I could. I don't recommend this product, and it's ridiculously overpriced for the horrible quality.

Solid swivel hook with working load limit of 3 tons clearly stamped on it. Upper shackle is 5/8. I like having these around for my chain fall so I can easily swivel loads above the bead of my truck as needed when loading or unloading. Looks like the nut that holds the swivel to the hook looks to be welded in place either on purpose or by the paint. Either way it’s a bit sloppy. That’s really the only complaint.

The cast pieces look the part, but the welded on nut is atrocious. While I'm assuming the nut is threaded on and welded to not back off, I wouldn't trust it with anyone's life. I'm not saying it won't get used, it will be used where failure doesn't risk life or property.
