Great set of tools , handles are small, I hadn’t realised when I purchased them but it wasn’t an issue

Years ago, there was plenty of space in the engine bay to work. Now with all the emission equipment, you can barely see the motor. These short ratchets fit easily where long handles ones do not. They also only require a few degrees of movement to catch the next tooth. If you do your own repair and maintenance, you’ll want a set of these in your toolbox.

These are solidly built with a good arc. Everyone who extensively works in crowded compartments such as automotive needs stubby ratchets. Sometimes, there is not enough clearance for normal length ratchet or box end/open end wrenches.I would prefer these stubbies have lower profiles since they are designed for low clearance conditions. For example, below are my two standard-length 3/8" Craftsman ratchet widths measured at the drive." Low-Profile" = 24.25 mm - 15/16"Standard = 36.85 mm - 1 7/16"Here are the widths of the Stubby ratchets (see PICTURE):1/4" - 24 mm - 15/16"3/8" - 32.7 mm - 1 5/16"1/2" - 41 mm - 1 5/8"The quick-release works well for both installing and removing extensions. Only the 1/4" extension will pull off without use of the quick-release which is expected since the ball bearing detent is so small. Most tool sets come with a case but this does not. The thin plastic packing (10" x 6 3/4 x 1 5/8" - see two PICTURES) could be used for tool cabinet storage. stubby ratchets are typically not used so frequently that you would use up the valuable real estate in a cabinet. The original packaging and box could be used to store these elsewhere.

These are compact and well made. Very handy to get into tight spots! It is awesome that they have the release button on them so the socket or extension stays on until the button is pushed to release. This is nice in tight spots that the socket stays on. Another cool thing that I found is that when the fastener gets too loose for the ratchet to ratchet you can put pressure on the release button and it puts enough tension to keep ratcheting. That way you don't need to put pressure on the socket/extension itself to keep it ratcheting. Very nice in tight spots. Also nice to have a few more extensions in the box. The only thing I don't like, which is in no way a flaw or fault of the tool, is that the direction lever is opposite of most standard ratchets out there. So to loosen you need to swing the lever to the left, to tighten it swings to the right. That's being super super picky though! All in all I highly recommend these due to the high quality. It also comes with a nice little tray of you want to use that in your tool box

Regular and extra long ratchets are great, but occasionally you need s stubby ratchet for a hard to get to spot. Usually, you still need something with leverage to break the fastener loose, but once it's slightly free, you can use a smaller ratchet.Usually, parts with thread-lock need something more than your fingers to get them off. That's where these ratchets a should be a good option. There are smooth, but there are smoother ratchets out there. They are also only 72 tooth. Since they are for hard to reach areas, I would have preferred 90 tooth, but they should still work.

Picked these up and had a few thoughts about them when I was inspecting them.1. These are 72 tooth gears with a 5 degree swing arc. That is great for trying to get in small places where there is not a lot of space for the handle to move back and forth. Most cheap ratchets are 36 tooth and it requires just that much more room to get a tooth to bite.2. The quick release is always nice for easy swaps.3. The mechanism operates smoothly and switching directions doesn't result in a catch or getting stuck in the middle somewhere. That's always super annoying.4. While the head is larger to handle the extra teeth, it does give it a sense of strength for whatever that is worth to you.5. They appear to be finished well on the outside and I didn't see any divots, defects, or other rough surfaces to suggest that these were rough cut and then given a dab of chrome to try and hide flaws.6. The whole point: these have a short handle to fit into those tight spots.I'm pretty happy with these and they make a great add to my tool chest.

So I say great concept because there are a lot of times where you need these stubby ratchets and they are great. The only issue I had is because of them being so short, you'll never get leverage on getting a stuck bolt or such out. So just keep that in mind, what you loose with a stubby ratchet.
