i first bought the cheaper "knock-off" version of this from another supplier on amazon and found that they squished flat over a week. these genuine tippmann latches will stay upright for months

Bought these to replace my Tippman Model 98 Custom detents that were worn out. Works as it should, but remember you have to split the gun case to install. Please remember (or look up on the web) how the hopper retention spring is oriented or you'll be taking the gun apart again.

If you own a 98 custom, whether you need them now or not, go ahead and order these. Perfect OEM fit and I promise this part WILL eventually fail.

Superb replacement itemNot only did this fit my BT4 which for the most part takes tippmann 98 parts, except for a few here and there, but it outperforms the OEM parts.The Ball Detent if you don't know much about it or haven't replaced one, holds the paintball on each shot so it doesn't just drop out of the end of the barrel.The OEM detent is plastic with a little rubber in it. This one has a lot more silicone/rubber content so it is much softer to the touch, and bens a lot easier. You should replace your detent every 1-3 years depending on usage and weather. They are cheap enough that you should probably pop a new one in there each year, like boaters do with spark plugs each year.

These ball detends worked well and did what they were supposed to do. It is a pain to take the tippmann apart so make sure you order these and have them on hand so you don't have to replace them down the road
