I bought these to hold various tools when I had to descend into an old hand-dug well to make some repairs. I didn't have anything very heavy attached but they do grip tightly to even small objects like a single handle of a pair of pliers and a penlight. I didn't lose anything to the bottom of the well, unlike previous repairmen! I put one around my cell phone (you can see the shadow of it and the lanyard in the pic of the hammer somebody else dropped decades ago) and I had no worries about losing it.

Works great! Working on a platform, keeps persons below safe, keeps expensive tools safe. Used with chainsaw, hand held power tools. Very good value. Might not stand up to daily use by a professional, but great for your average homeowner.

the 'waukee ones are like $25 for a single lanyard. no thanks. these hang onto a 3/4" pipe bender with no problems at all. same for a 42" wrecking bar i had to drag around for a bit. Also i use one for kayaking to keep the oar tethered
