I didn't want to spend $50 for one of the brand name so I got three of these for $19. I opened the first one and was surprised how messy and sooty it was. The carbon dust got everywhere! It was all over my hands, got on my clothes, when I sat the filter down to clean myself up it got all over the counter, it was a mess!!!I went ahead and put it in the vacuum cleaner which it fit okay, but as soon as I turned on the vacuum it blew out a huge plumb of black carbon dust which settled on everything around it...an even bigger mess to clean up.To give it a fair chance (and since I had the vacuum cleaner out) I went ahead and started cleaning up the carbon dust mess and vacuum the carpets. Within a few minutes the vacuum started making a strange airflow sound. It turned out that this new filter had come apart at the seams and air was now blowing out of the sides and not through the filter. I put it back together (and, yes, more carbon mess on my fingers) but within just moments of powering on the vacuum it broke apart again.That was it! I was done with this garbage! I pulled it out and was immediately rewarded with carbon debris spilling out all over and inside the vacuum cleaner and floor...WHAT A GIANT MESS!!! I was so frustrated I didn't even bother trying to return them, I threw them all in the trash and put my old OEM filter back in until I got a new one.It is moments like this which remind me, BUY THE BEST - CRY ONLY ONCE.

I've been through three of these filters in a little less than 60 days. Miele says to change the HEPA filter yearly. I've always done it every 6 months. These filters don't even last a month. I sprinkle baking soda on a rug every about every six weeks and vacuum it up a few hours later. I use about half of an 8 oz box of baking soda, which is not a lot. I've done this for 20 years with zero problems.Every time I've vacuumed up 4 oz of baking soda with these filters installed in my machine, I notice the suction will suddenly decrease. Before I can turn the vacuum off, I hear a very loud "pop" and the suction returns. Each time the filter has exploded out of the housing, blowing baking soda all over the interior of my machine.

Some of these after market non genuine are just paper, these ones have a heavy layer of charcoal that eliminates odors like the genuine ones,

The product looked good, but it wasn't for my miele. The description of the product wasn't clear; it had my series (s5), the filter looked like mine, but unfortunately wasn't. I had to return it and look for another filter.

The package comes with vacuum bags that fit well in the canister along with cutout air filters you can fit inside the vacuum bag cavity.The compatible SF-HA 50 filter is not the same quality as the Miele original. When you take it out of the package, black charcoal will get all over your hands as you place it in the slot. It will filter as intended and fits well. Given the significant difference in price from the original, you have to determine if you're willing to get your hands black with charcoal if you're changing that filter every 6 or 12 months depending on the frequency of vacuum use.
