About this item

  • 【Double Magnification】The Barlow lens doubles the magnification of any 1.25" eyepiece, allowing you to take a closer look at the Moon and other planets.
  • 【HD Optical Multi-Coated Glass】Optical glass maximizes image contrast. It provides high quality viewing, color correction; provides high light transmittance to ensure a clear view; internal anti-reflection.The double-layered optical glass can more accurately represent the details of the moon.
  • 【With M42x0.75 thread interface】with general M42 external thread; can also be connected to SLR cameras. Attach one end to the T-ring, then to the SLR, and finally attach the whole assembly to your telescope to start shooting. (Tip: T-rings are not included in the package and must be purchased separately).

This is a decent 2X Barlow for for 1.25" Telescope.I tried it on my 2000mm Celestron C8 telescope. It fitted correctly to the eyepiece, it has a screw contact instead of a vise closure adjustment that is more convenient. But photos are worth hundred words. I shot the first scene, about 1 mile away, without the Barlow. The second shot is with the X2 Barlow added to the eyepiece. Sorry for the quality, photo is shot with my phone instead of a mounted SLR camera. I think the quality is fine for its price.

This fits perfectly on my M42 T-Ring adapter for my Canon T6. My moon filter adapter fits perfectly as well. I've only had one good night so far to view with this Barlow lens. I'm looking forward to getting more time with this lens for viewing and astrophotography.I didn't notice any field distortion with my 8" Orion reflector telescope. I had some issues with my SLR so ended up only taking a few photos with my phone. Viewing was a very pleasant experience as well with this lens. This lens has a great feel and look. It consists of 3 pieces that all fit together very well. In addition, the fit of the T-Ring and connection to the telescope of no "play". I'm very happy with the quality of this lens for the price.

It does what a Barlow is supposed to do, and seems to be of decent quality optically speaking. However, it's VERY light and plasticky and has a cheap feel to it. Also dinged one star for only having a set-screw instead of a compression ring to hold your eyepiece in place. If cost is your only concern it's not a bad way to go, but personally, I would spend more to get a higher-quality Barlow. Remember, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

The quality of this barlow is reasonably nice, but it's noticeably quite light compared to nicer barlows/focal extenders etc. The machining of the barlow body has a premium look to it and is done well, but while the glass isn't particularly bad it's not in the same ballpark as Explore Scientific etc. Which is understandable since we're talking an order of magnitude difference of price.I would recommend this barlow to pair with some of the more entry level gear like an AstroFi refractor I use with my nieces and at some outreach events. I think it's on par with that level of products and the price is reasonable, making it a good way to effectively double up your eyepieces.

A barlow lens is one lens that didn't come with our Celestron telescope. So I was so happy to find this one.Nights have been cold so I only ran out, with my telescope, once to test it out.I was able to see Venus more clearly. I was super thrilled! As soon as the nights are warmer this lens will be used every night.Easy to just slip in and start using right away.

Mechanically this Barlow consists of three modules that screw together. There’s an eyepiece holder/camera adapter, the actual lens assembly, and a threaded tube connecting the two. It’s a design I’ve seen a lot of example of recently, with barlows from 1.5x to 3X sharing the same basic hardware. There are compromises made in such a design- higher magnification requires a longer tube to achieve full magnification- so I’m guessing this is basically for ease of manufacture.Optically, it’s pretty good. I tested in in my apochormatic AT60ED and couldn’t see any obvious chromatic error or field distortion with the eyepieces I tried. It’s not as contrasty as my TeleVue or University barlows but it’s more than acceptable for most viewing, and hard to beat at this price. If you’ve got a good quality Dobsonian or a small refractor with good glass, this is a good way to expand the range of eyepieces supplied with your scope at low cost.

I ordered this to use with a Celestron NexStar 127SLT telescope, and it works perfectly. It provides twice the magnification, and I can see no difference in the clarity as compared when using just they eye piece on its own. The detail for objects viewed, as you would expect, gets a major boost from the increased magnification.I have not tried to use it with my camera yet, but I like that it is threaded for that purpose, thus I have the option to do so down the road if I so choose (you will need a T-ring for this, one is not included). This Barlow lens basically doubles the number of lenses that you already have on hand by doubling their magnification. The aluminum body and the dust covers give it a high-quality feel, providing some confidence that it will last for some time.If things change as I use it more I will update this review, but for now I am more than pleased with this lens and highly recommend it.
