I found a roadside freebee, an almost unused dirt devil vacuum. It's one of those cheap-os that are only $70 on amazon, but hey, I can't pass up a chance at a free vacuum! So I took it home and it was completely unresponsive, no surprise. I took it apart and narrowed the problem down to the cheap little glass fuse they put in there to prevent all that plastic from melting if you run the thing for more than 20 min. (I tested the switch, the motor, etc, power to everything right up to the fuse) Instead of just replacing the crap fuse they had in there with the same crap fuse, I decided it was worth putting in one of these, that will open the circuit if it gets too hot, and once it cools down, will reconnect itself. (I found the rating on the old fuse, and this one matched it. ) Truth is, they USED TO put these in all vacuums, but now you just have to get a new vacuum, or have it repaired. If you have any electrical repair skills, you can do this. You need a crimper, a couple of crimp style female tab connectors so you can connect to this new fuse. There is a marking on the fuse so you connect the tab going to the motor with the load tab on the fuse. You can do this!Get one of these, and your vacuum will live on!

Great Thermal switch had to adjust one spade connector to fit my application. Was installed an a 3988 Bayliner. Had to bend one spade over . It handled the 15 amp load with no problem.
