If you put a small bowl of a liquid or saucy item in the oven and you can't get it out with a pot holder without getting part of it wet, this can be useful. The trick is that you need to use both at once, one on each side, and you have to grip hard. It all depeneds on your grip strength because there is no spring lock to make sure it doesn't get dropped from your grip loosening. One side has a silicone pad and one doesn't, so one side is going to be slick while the other is spongy and grippy. The handles have silicone to help you keep your grip there.

These are super handy; there's a lot of times where something can be pulled out of the oven/microwave, like a bowl or dish, and it would be easier to grab it with one of these than have to fetch two hot gloves.There are a few things I don't like about this particular set:1. The rubber thing is only on one side; so one side gets rubber treatment and the other doesn't which can leave a the thing you are using it on vulnerable to scratching.2. The rubber thing comes off pretty easy, it barely requires anything to push it out, while I haven't had any problem with that as of yet, things like this have a tendency to start to 'fall off' after some time. They did provide replacement rubber things though.Other than those two things; it works as expected!
