First the obvious, if you are using this to couple a hose that is 100 PSI, you are looking at the wrong thing. This is for massive pressures like for power steering lines, hydraulic cylinders, mostly agricultural and industrial equipment. Often times over 1000 PSI.The technical details here: This kit is two hose ends which terminate in a female AN fitting. The kit comes with appropriately sized straight, m-m coupler. If you needed to change direction for any reason, you could still buy this kit, but then buy an m-m elbow in the appropriate size AN fitting.I recommend watching some videos on how to use this properly. I prefer to cut my hydraulic hoses with a cutoff wheel because usually for high pressure hoses, there is braided wire embedded in the rubber. Using a cutting wheel gives it a very clean cut. You will of course want to clean out the debris before using the hose though. The outer part of the fitting spins counter-clockwise onto the OD of the damaged hose. The inner cone/spreader fitting threads clockwise into the ID of the hose. One thing you may want to consider is that if you are in a tight space, these may not be what you need, because the splice is probably about 5-7 inches long, and if it is in a tight space, you just won't have the room to make it fit.As to why you would want this, well, if the hose is super expensive, or if you carry this for field fixes, or if replacing the hose is infeasible because it is no longer made, or the fittings are nearly impossible to get to, or if the end fittings are some strange type that you cannot locate. In my case, a power steering hose for my tractor is over three-hundred dollars. And the hose is fine except for one puncture spot, so this kit was a no-brainer. Not only does it couple the line that is hard to find, but I now also have three extra couplings in case a different hose blows out on me.Not related to this product, but a helpful tip. If you are working around high pressure like what this is intended for, be very careful of pinhole leaks. Whether it's from using this wrong, or after repairing a damaged hose, finding another weak spot, or any other number of possibilities. Skin injections of high pressure fluids is a very serious emergency, so please be careful!

If you have a tractor that needs to run and you rupture a line this will get you back in the field. It looks well built. This is a farmers insurance insurance policy.

I do not have an immediate need for these at the moment. But it appears that these can come in handy if I do have a hose problem on my tractor. I have 1/2" hose in the rear, and 3/8" up front. So, it was a good backup kit for me to pick up. There is a hydraulic hose and fitting supplier in my town but not opened on weekends or late in the evening. So, these just may come in handy some time.

These reusable hydraulic fittings can be a lifesaver when you need to repair a broken hydraulic hose and you don't have time to get a new hose made. These fittings can be installed with simple hand tools and NO special hydraulic crimping tools. Simply cut off the bad section of hose (I like to use an angle grinder), screw the outer portion of the fitting onto the outside of the hose (reverse threaded) and then screw the inner portion of the fitting into the outer portion just installed on the hose. Repeat for the other end of hose and then screw the two set of fittings together. Apply a small dab of grease to the threads of the outer fittings to make twisting onto the hose easier. You can remove these fittings for reuse when discarding hoses they're install on. You will find these fittings are very well made and look great. Stock up on all sizes so you are ready for your next blown hydraulic hose.

Already saved me a trip to the hydraulics shop and let me stay on the job. High quality at a fair price.
