Because I couldn’t figure out how these tank straps work (even with the online photos) I took them in to my local dive shop. The owner, a decades-long diver and regional legend, reassured me that there was nothing wrong with these straps and that they weren’t too long. He demonstated their size on a standard tank, as well as how the long tail’s end is intended to be firmly tugged to release the cam buckle. It did take him several minutes of fiddling to figure out how the strap threaded through the buckle. He explained that although he had used this buckle style frequently in the past, he hadn’t in some time so was rusty about how it threaded. Thus, it took him several minutes to recall but he was ultimately successful.Based on his expert opinion (I am a novice, with only 26 dives), and assuming this buckle style is what the diver prefers, this pair of robust tank straps is rated 5 stars.
