How long should I charge my two way radio battery?

How long should I charge my two way radio battery?

As always, it depends on the type of battery. Ni-CAD, Ni-MH and Li-Ion all have different charging methods.

Generally though, it should only take two hours on a rapid charger and 4-6 hours on a standard charger.

When using for the first time, it is recommended that you charge overnight, that is, the charging time is about 12 hours. Some specialized chargers take longer, such as charger-conditioners.

What do I do with my old batteries?

You can dispose of any batteries at any RBRC affiliated store. The RBRC (Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation) has members in every major city in the United States. There is no charge to drop your batteries off there. Home Depot and Radio Shack are two of its predominant members.

Worst Batteries I have purchased. They did not last long before they were shot and unable to accept any additional charging. Right from the start they never really held a charge. I had a radio technician recently test these and conformed that they are no longer viable.
