Feels cheap and doesn't do as good a job as I had hoped.

by the time you have made enough coffee with the thing, it's luke warm and nowhere near hot. It leaks, and does not really make anything worth my time to drink

I really wanted to like the 2lb Depot Portable Espresso Maker since I'm always on the lookout for new coffee gadgets. I was very excited to open it up and use it for the first time so I ground up some fresh coffee (on the coarser side like the instructions said), set the water kettle, and got to brewing. At first I think my grind was closer to a medium-coarse grind and I pumped the thing faster than instructed; the resulting brew was mediocre. Definitely not espresso and not even great coffee. So I figured maybe it was my fault and I tried it again, this time following instructions to the T. I ground my coffee even coarser, made sure the water was filled exactly to the fill line, and pressed the pump in 1-3 second intervals as the instructions said to do. The result was still mediocre. Being the stubborn person I am I went for round 3, but this time I ground the coffee finer since normally espresso is made with a fine grind. It was better, but still not quite there. I mean it's not bad, it's just not espresso as advertised. The device succeeds in making maybe slightly more intense coffee than usual, but the volume is quite small considering that it was meant for espresso. If I wanted just coffee I'd rather use my AeroPress instead and make a full cup. I don't think this is reaching the pressures advertised because it seems the coffee starts coming out quite quickly while pumping; it likely needs a tighter valve. I'm quite disappointed. This is more akin to an AeroPress with a Prismo attachment than a true espresso maker and I'd rather just use the AeroPress since it's simpler with a higher volume.I consider 3 stars as achieving basic functionality but flawed. This is 2 stars since it can't do what it was made for. The only reason I'm not giving 1 star is because the build quality seems quite decent and it can at least make coffee so it's not completely useless.

I personally think this is perfect for certain use scenarios. This is great for my road trips and overnight camping events. It does require some manual effort and isn't the fastest. There are other options that might be more efficient, but for the value, I think this does its job very well. I think the espresso it makes is decent and good for times when you have limited access to things.

A no joke espresso maker perfect for hiding at work. Takes significantly less time to make a rather large shot of espresso. It's very easy to clean and doesn't take much more time to clean than my at home espresso maker. It's also very durable and high quality, some co workers thought the water tank and cup were glass at first. I absolutely love this thing, and you can't go wrong compared to the price of competitors.

This is an okay espresso maker. For the price, it's about what you can expect. Decent cup but you can definitely get better with slightly more robust equipment. Great for camping and a good price.
