I'm an installer and I have yet to see these work on larger systems. Anymore than 1 of these in a project and about every 30 days they end up loss of signal. Boosters don't help. Save yourself the heartaches and just wireless your project. Jank!!

I added this unit to one provided by Vivint for a new alarm system to rewire my old 6 zone window an door sensors network to 16 zones. Worked perfectly! Each door and the windows in each room now have their own alarm sensing zone.

Worked exactly as described. I used this to connect a hard wired security system in the house I bought to a 2GIG GC3 security system. I am now free of ADT.

Took some time to figure this one out. I have no experience with electrical or alarm wiring but gave this a go to switch my wired alarm to a 2gig panel friendly signal. Works great! Watch a few basics of alarm wiring on youtube and it will eventually click in your mind how things work.

I had an old, Brinks wired alarm system that hasn't been monitored in a long time, and when it recently started beeping every night in the middle of the night, the only option other than getting involved in a new monitoring contract was to replace it.I didn't need a monitored system, but I did need a way to tell if my child with autism or my mom with Alzheimer's was opening doors or windows. After looking into my options, I called Linear, who owns 2GIG, and asked if their system could be used just for alerting me to zone openings, and not necessarily to be a monitored system. The woman I spoke to was pleasant and helpful, and said that while the system is designed to be installed by dealers, yes, it could be used as I needed. So I bought this takeover module and .I had zero experience with alarm systems, or really with house wiring in general, so I went into this with very basic knowledge. I searched for videos on YouTube that would help. I started with one on how to install a wired alarm panel, so I could figure out which wires were which inside the existing panel. Then I found a very helpful hour or so long instructional video intended for 2GIG installers, which walked through the entire system and all of its available features, and included step by step programming information on the control panel.I was able to rewire the system to the takeover module with no real difficulty (except, I would note, that to power it from the old control board, you need a wire to run from the AUX port to the takeover module, and they don't provide one...nor does the control panel provide a wire for you to connect the panel to the plug-in transformer, so you'll need that, too).Once I completed the wiring, it was pretty simple to program the control panel, and all of the wired zones are now controlled through the new wireless 2GIG system. The whole process took this beginner maybe 5 hours, maybe less, and I had no problems at all getting it set up.If you're looking to take over your existing wired system, this takeover module does the trick nicely.

Was a good way to use my existing reed switch door sensors. I already had 7 wired to my old control. I ended up building a power supply and box for it with a battery backup rather than destroying my old panel.

Works but was problematic. Battery low alert. Could not bypass. Tech support answered fast but could not help fix it. Resolution much better quality and works better. No problems yet

Hook up takes a little bit of effort and planning but for the most part it is simple, tedious work. If you have a basic alarm unit installed, I highly recommend the 2Gig line and using this makes it that much easier to convert.
