I’m a first time syrup maker and this was a goodPrice and also durable and effective. Definitely recommend!

The heavy duty filters are alright but only about 1/2 as thick as my original, from possibly 10 years ago. The Prefilters that were intact work alright as liners for a first pour coming off the fire. Several of the ones I received had large ( 1 1/2 inch) slices in the fabric, making them unusable to filter anything. Held up after a hot water only wash and should be usable for a few seasons.

Really like these filters. I washed them inside out with just warm water and made sure the point was cleaned out well with hotter water. Make sure fully dry before reusing -- effects the flow. Syrup came out clean with no need to refiller again for the niter(maple sand). Use as instructed.

These filters work great for us. We make about 1 ½ gallons each batch. We used to use only one filter set that would slow down so much even changing pre filters and everything cooled and got worse. We now are able to use 2 or three filters then everything flows well and hot. The smaller size is fine for our small operation. We had to cut 2 more holes so we could use two dowels to hold it up. (Don't forget to save used filters to get the drippings and hot water rinse to boil hotdogs after your sap boiling)These have made the most important job of maple syrup making, bottling, go much smoother.

I used this to filter my finished maple syrup (3/4 gallon). I ran syrup through a cheese cloth prior to running through these. Ran through these att about 200 degrees, double pre filter and the cloth filter. Syrup came out clear and no nitre in solution or setted at the bottom. Will continue to use these in the future.
