I absolutely loved the idea of learning a funky instrument, and this is perfect , for a beginner I have been able to play some melodies , it’s simple to use and it as straight forwards as it comes , it comes with 2 wooden drumsticks which makes a clear crisp sound when strumming the Xylophone . It’s super cute and honestly it would make a perfect unique gift

My husband is into silly instruments (think penny whistle) and loves this thing. It lives under our coffee table and he takes it out to fiddle with it daily. He’s planning to learn the Harry Potter theme on it.

I believe in teaching kids the power that comes with learning a musical instrument: discipline, creativity, pride and above all, enjoyment! Playing music can be a wonderful way to express yourself and sometimes where words fail, music can fill in the gaps. My kiddos are younger, so learning something like this glockenspiel is a great place to start because let’s face it: recorders are so overdone. This glock has well tuned bells for crisp, clear sounds. The wooden frame isn’t finished, so just be sure to use in a dry setting; keep those drink cups far away in case of accidental spills. The mallets are easy to hold and it’s fun for the kiddos to explore the different sounds the bells make. They’ve fooled around enough on a piano keyboard to see the similarities between the 2 instruments. I like that this is a set it and forget it type of instrument. No need to replace mouthpieces, reeds, strings or oils; just pick up the mallets and play. I’d prefer if the pegs holding the bars to the frame were metal and less plasticy, but perhaps I’m just being picky. Overall, this is a great starter instrument that will hopefully forge a lifelong love of making music!

I don't know what a full sized xylophone is supposed to look like, but I'll say that I was surprised this was only 16.5 inches across (didn't read the full details). However, I'll say that it sounds amazing and has a nice feel/touch to it. I'm looking forward to exploring with it.

This product is a basic glockenspiel that is pretty nice for an amateur. The wood base and mallets are good quality though seemingly unfinished. This does not affect usability. The metal keys have a nice sound and play the appropriate notes. I have a teen who plays mallets in band and he likes playing with this. I have a toddler who loves playing with this. All in all, this is a nice instrument at a lower price point. It will get the job done.

I grew up playing all sorts of instruments, and my kids are all musicians now! So when I saw this, I got so excited! I love it! It sounds delightful and is perfectly tuned. I am very happy with this.

I got this for my 7 year old in an effort to expose her to easy to learn and play musical instruments.This xylophone has a nice wood construction and comes with a small set of wooden mallets. The sounds produced are crisp and piercing, especially in the higher register.My daughter is enjoying learning songs and has even managed to mimic our doorbell!Our dog doesn't think that's funny at all.Great gift to expand the musical horizons of beginners of all ages.

The glockenspiel came in quickly and with no issues. The 27 note full size professional wooden body, metal key Glockenspiel is great for musical fun. This drum percussion instrument is a great way for a beginner to really get their musical start. I don't know if I would call this professional, but the keys sound great and the wooden base is sturdy. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to try their musical prowess on a fun instrument before diving into harder areas.

This a glockenspiel (metal keys) not a xylophone (wooden keys). It's a really nice, simple glockenspiel with the keys marked with the notes. This is not a toy, it's a real musical instrument; and in my experience, children respond better to 'real' things than to toy versions. I got this for a child who is showing signs of potentially being quite musical, and who makes up tunes, and I've told her that this is to help her 'compose'. The keys are marked with the notes, so as she picks out tunes she can write them down: this should give her a great head start in learning to read music. As an adult I find it delightful, and we've had fun with picking out familiar tunes and experimenting with different ways of hitting the keys and how that sounds different. It's also very simply attractive, well-finished and made of plain wood and well-painted keys. Much nicer than the one my children had when they were young!I've docked a star for value, because apparently identical glockenspiels are available at considerably less than the £39.99 that this one is currently for sale for. Other than that, I'd recommend it.

This is a small 27 notes glockenspiel with metal bars. You have both white-notes and black-notes, painted in these colours like on the piano, so if you play piano it is easy to transfer your skills onto this instrument.The range here is from G2, two octaves up, plus one note. So it's G2 to A5.It comes with small wooden mallets which feel of ok quality, though the wood has a tiny bit of a rougher finish, so it's not super-finely made, but it's nice enough to use. If you're more serious about playing, you'll probably want to look into getting more professional mallets I think - rubber tipped ones, metal ones - for whichever kind of sound you want.The instrument itself seems nicely made. The wood frame is a tiny bit rough, similar to the mallets. I'm not sure if this is standard for the frame to be unvarnished in this way.I'm a complete beginner so when I played around with it, I found it trickier to get the higher pitched short-metal notes to make a nice ringing sound, but that is probably beginner-error rather than something to do with the instrument itself.Overall, a fun instrument to play! I recommend playing the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Rugrats theme tune! :D

Being a musician, I wanted to add a xylophone. I hesitated between a professionnal quality or a much cheaper (smaller) version. I went with this very inexpensive but well rated xylophone and am very pleased with my decision. It it small, so I am a bit limited in what I can do, but it get's the job done and it is so portable.
