A dowel center set has a very simple job - transfer center locations from one piece to another. Sadly as you read in reviews and descriptions, most of the products offered can't do it. This set can because:* each pair of centers is machined correctly to fit holes of 0.25 (1/4), 0.3125 (5/16), 0.375 (3/8), and 0.5 (1/2), undersized by 0.008 so they will give a snug fit but are removable without effort.* each center has a sharp centered point.Good middle of the range price.

Ya lo use y si me ayudo. Estos centradores son de gran ayuda a la hora de unir dos madera y que estas se conviertan en una sola pieza sólida y fuerte

A must have in wood working. They are small and easy to lose or miss place.I used a strip of magnetic tape on my tool chest lid, so matter how cluttered it gets they are always easy to find.

The website specified that "Next larger size dowel centers slip over dowel pins and round tenons to precisely mark location for dowel holes for proper assembly.", but the tools are NOT hollow on the backside and cannot be used this way.Otherwise, these are fine...except for their terrible blister pack packaging!

Half of the centers were very tight and difficult to remove once placed in a hole, the other half was loose in the same diameter hole

Still haven't used it. Presumably does what it's intended for.

I usually use my dowel jig but this really helps when doing 90 degree joints such as in shelfs and screen doors that I made.

These tools are a must have if you intend on making furniturejoints with accuracy. You drill your holes, place the dowel pinsin those hole and then tap the pins against the joint making indentationsin the wood at the joint surface so that you can accurately drill thoseholes for a super accurate joint.John Wilder is a former contractor who has written extensivelyin magazines about construction and DIY articles

Not a whole lot to say here - sizing was right on - pin is centered. Drill a hole and pop one of these in, align the other piece and give it a tap. Dowel holes are lined up and ready for glue.

I purchased these to fix a bar stool top that had split along one of the butt joints from being old. I used this dowel center jig: in combination with these dowel centers. I used the jig to drill one side of the stool seat and then used the 3/8" centers to locate the other side. They are very sharp and make a nice reference mark to drill the other side. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the light flange along the outside edge that keeps the center from falling into the hold cracked on me when I was removing the center from a slightly snug fitting hole. Maybe it was too snug and I should have opened the hole slightly but I wasn't prying too hard that I thought is should crack. I will make sure they are all a good fit before using the next time otherwise they are great.
