These screws have a nice shiny finish to them and appear to be of good and consistent quality, and they work fine. But I was in for a rude awakening when I first tried using one. These are #8 (imperial) sized screws, but have a metric sized hex head. The head is too big for a ¼” nut driver, too small for a 5/16” driver. You need a 7mm socket or driver. I happened to have one but I had to go digging to find it. I have nothing against the metric system, in fact – I prefer it in many cases. But this mix of imperial and metric systems is counter-intuitive to me. I’m taking one star off the rating only because this is not indicated anywhere in the product description.

I got these primarily to temporary hold auto body panels together when fitting and welding them. They are stainless so shouldn’t introduce rust and are true to size. The case is fairly good with catches on the front and sides. They aren’t the cleanest cut threads but will work fine for purpose.

These came just in time for me to add leaf guards to my new metal gutters on my pole barn, and in that capacity, they performed pretty flawlessly. The screws come in a plastic box clearly marked with the dimensions, so I grabbed a 7mm socket, attached it to my Makita, and went to town. The blade end is very sharp and made very short order of the aluminum on aluminum connection I needed to make. Aside from dropping a few, I had none burn out without self-tapping or wander off because of a dull tip. For my own amusement, I tried to bury some into a steel beam in my garage, which is probably 3/16” thick. Surprisingly, I had some success, but these screws were not designed for that type of abuse, and it generally played out as such. Incidentally, these are about the perfect length for gutter work when you can’t always bring two surfaces together completely flush. They are just a bit longer than the ones typically supplied with gutter guards.No complaints on quality or value for this hardware!

The hex head size is unclear in the listing and not shown in the dimensions on the plastic box they come in. I thought I would be getting screws with a standard 8 mm head, but that is far to large. A quarter inch socket is far too big.I found that I could use either a 9/32 inch or 7 mm socket driver (9/32" = 7.14 mm) but there is nothing on the listing or the packaging that says that. Strangely the width shown on the packaging says they are 6.78 - 7 mm - apparently referring to the flanges at the corners. With such an odd size they really should include a driver in the package or at the very least make it clear in the Amazon listing the socket size that is needed.
