I didn't even open the package and there is rust all over inside the bag as you can see from the attached photo. Also sticks to a magnet just like regular carbon steel.

These worked very well for my purposes. I have reached that age where CRS has set in. So I use these to attach keys, fobs, a multitool, knife, and penlight to a neck lanyard; I haven't had anything fall-off yet, in fact they are very strong and secure. (I also now use an event pass holder with its own neck lanyard for my wallet. My military dog tags are still on their 43 year old separate chain.)My only criticism is you have to buy so many to get a decent price, but now I have 14 spares. I do hope I remember where I stored them.
