These are just as strong as any name brand barb fittings I've ever bought. They're a much better price too. The threads are great, and the plastic is thick, and they screw easily into the bulkheads I needed them for. My use case isn't typical, but I'm trying them out as an overflow for an aquarium, with a separate air intake to stop the gurgling sound. I'm not sure they will allow enough volume to pass through for my purposes, but that isn't the fault of the fitting, they'd be great for irrigation purposes. Definitely recommend.

Not really tested for cold weather. Already snapped off at the sprinkler connection. I have a bag of them, but not too excited about fixing these connectors every year.

The 1/2-inch plastic hose of the irrigation system can be directly connected to the outlet pipe of the garden sprinkler system through this connector. Remove the sprinkler head and install this connector. Easy to use, no water leakage.

In the past, I have used the name-brand black plastic version that was an inch or so longer and always used white silicone tape to ease threading the 1/2 inch IP end into what ever fitting. These are smaller and slightly softer so I have not found it necessary to use the silicone tape. They have only three barb rings, but they slide easily into both brands of black plastic tube with which I have used them. I have not used clamps with any and, knock on wood, none has leaked yet. I keep the pressure in the 30 to 40 psi range. Anyway, they are easy to use and less expensive than what I have used in the past. I do not yet know how well they will tolerate the UV exposure. Time will tell.

These things are super tight to the point where when you fold the pipe over you can’t slide the thing over the folded pipe in. What I had to do was fold it over then use a flat shovel braced on the middle piece and tap it down. For something going in the ground that doesn’t need precision this seems a bit counter productive.
