- Principle: The Leeb Hardness tester uses a spherical tungsten carbide ball and a spring load to measure the hardness of a test piece. This method uses a rebound technique which measures the energy lost when the impact body hits the test sample.

When the curvature radius of the surface to be tested is less than 30mm, a support ring or an unconventional support ring should be used.

We received the product on November 2023 and calibration cert. Expired on December 2023. Tool was calibrate 1 year before and probably sitting somewhere. Certs are critical for the companies

I only have limited time using this, but so far it seems to be pretty accurate once calibrated. Compared to my hardness files it gave measurements that were right in line with what I would expect.**In order to access calibration mode press and hold the POWER button and ENTER button**I did not see this mentioned anywhere in the manual. It talks about needing to calibrate it initially, but not how to enter calibration mode. After some digging online of other similar models I was able to find the procedure that works.I didn't try the software because none of my computers have CD-Rom drives. It would be nice if there was a link to download it online. I will have to dig around and locate my external CD drive before I can evaluate the software.

Despite the device coming with a USB cable and CDROM software, there is no USB port anywhere on the device and no opening in the plastic case for a USB port.Upon opening the case, there is a place for a USB micro connector to be soldered to the circuit board, but no USB port is populated.The USB port and software are heavily promoted as a feature of the product in the images and text of the product description, so it was very surprising it’s not present.UPDATE: I got the fastest set of replies from Mxmoonfree customer service that I have ever experienced. They explained some units without USB accidentally got into Amazon inventory before they caught the issue. The resolution is return/exchange and hope to not get “unlucky” again. Inconvenient, but I understand their dilemma. I eventually received a unit with a USB port.The functionality of the unit itself (USB aside) is quite impressive, especially for the price.
