Our washer eats one of these every few months. At least they are cheap enough and I’ve gotten pretty good at replacing quickly.

I bought a two-pack because rumor has it once you have to replace this part it needs to be replaced relatively often so I want to be prepared. Even if I have to change it 10 times, it’s cheaper than buying a new machine and also cheaper than having someone else replace this part. It fits perfectly in our Maytag washer and I’m glad I found it! I’ll update when/if I need to replace this part again so you know how long it lasts for my 3-person household.

I dislike how they make wash machines now they make this plastic piece to spin your washing machine they don't make them durable enough . They was very easy to install. . But they need to make a more heavy and adorable. Witch it not the makes of these. Its. It the people that make the wash machine .it fits great and make the wash machine function the way it supposed to

The first time this gear failed me, I did not have my replacement parts. Getting the machine taken apart to replace the gear is not easy. Once I got the screws securing the impeller removed and I put some strong "Ratchet Tie Down Straps" under the impeller I needed to put some 2/4s over the top of my machine and put a floor jack on top of the 2x4s and secured the Straps. Then I started jacking and just before the impeller broke loose it was bending more than I liked but figured I had nothing to lose. Then it popped off the gear and I could continue the replacement. Pretty easy after that. That replacement gear lasted about six months and I already had a replacement gear. This time the impeller came off without a jack but just some pretty hard jerks on the straps under the impeller. This gear is just designed to go bad because the splines of the gear are so small and shallow and made out of plastic. Really should be metal gears. It is just a matter of time before it goes bad. I now have three spares on hand. This is a Whirlpool washer.
