good game system. struggles a little bit with the most graphics intensive games on the PSP or Dreamcast, but plays all earlier generation consoles without a problem. Good spread of games.Screen is clear and a good size.No problems with the controls.Mostly focused on Sega and Playstation, not much of the Nintendo system games, although there are some Famicom games under Retroarch. Not all games are usable due to language, if they were important from Japan. But it's a great system to have a good time with. It's also flexible enough to be able to add in Nintendo games or any of the games it is missing if you can find the ROMs and BIOS for them.Overall, good value for the money, battery lasts a decent amount of time, longer if you play they older games. The plastic case seems sturdy.Overall, RECOMMENDED

This is a fantastic device for retro gaming enthusiasts and new players alike. The pre-installed games, high performance, and dual OS functionality make it a versatile and fun console. My nephews loved it, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a portable gaming system packed with features. The price point is reasonable considering everything that comes with it, and it’s an excellent gift for gamers of all ages!

The 2025 New Upgrade R36MAX Retro Handheld Game Console is an appealing option for gamers looking to relive classic titles from past generations. With 18,000+ built-in games and a 64GB storage capacity, it offers an extensive library spanning multiple consoles, from NES and SNES to PlayStation and even some arcade games. The 4.5-inch display is bright and colorful, making retro games look great, and the battery life is decent, lasting several hours on a full charge. The console is lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry around for gaming on the go.One of the biggest selling points of this device is its affordability. Compared to more expensive retro handhelds, the R36MAX provides a budget-friendly way to access thousands of games without needing to set up emulators or hunt for ROMs. The controls are generally responsive, and the button layout is comfortable for most games. It’s a fun device for casual gamers who want to pick up and play classic titles without much hassle. However, the console has several drawbacks that prevent it from being a top-tier retro gaming device. First, while the game count sounds impressive, many of the titles are duplicates or low-quality ROMs, which can make navigating the library frustrating. Some games also suffer from performance issues, such as lag, audio glitches, or slowdowns, particularly on more demanding systems like PlayStation or N64.The user interface is another weak point—it feels outdated and unintuitive, making it difficult to find specific games or adjust settings easily. A more streamlined menu system would greatly improve the experience. Additionally, while the build quality is decent, the plastic casing doesn’t feel as premium or durable as other handhelds in the same price range. The D-pad and buttons feel a bit stiff, which might be uncomfortable for extended play sessions.Overall, the R36MAX is a solid budget option for casual retro gaming, but it’s not without its flaws. If you’re looking for a plug-and-play device with a massive game library, it delivers a fun experience at a reasonable price. However, if you want better emulation performance, a smoother UI, or higher build quality, you might want to explore other retro handhelds that offer more polish and reliability.
