These thrust bearings work great! I greased them up well, and the stuff pushed out when I reassembled the front wheels' 3/4" steering posts into their sleeves. the added thickness still allowed the E-clips to go back on at the top of the posts. I highly recommend these, and it only took about 15 minutes to install them. OK, I took about 30 altogether, but that included getting the grease from the shop, finding the bottle jack, getting a flat screwdriver, pliers, a small hammer to tap on the screwdriver, blocking the rear tires with a couple bricks, and getting some paper towels from the kitchen to wipe off the excess grease!If you want to keep your hands clean, wear some disposable rubber gloves for the grease part.I used to have a Yard Machine mower, that was really hard to turn the wheel. When I bought the JD Lawn Tractor, the steering was a BIG improvement. But then, adding these flat bearings, with a flat washer on each side to roll against, made the steering even easier! I love the improvement! Now I just need o figure out a way to protect the bearings from water when I wash the mower. maybe I'll wrap them in black plastic tape.

I was skeptical, but since I had to replace a bent front spindle anyway, I ordered the kit. Not power steering, but it helped a lot.

These needle thrust bearings are something JD didn’t consider when designing the original steering system of my lawn tractor. The OEM system has a single washer between the stationary steering link and the rotating member open to the environment and dependent on manually greasing often to keep the steering light. Over time this simplistic system gets contaminated and requires a labor disassembly to clean. The added needle thrust bearings replace the washer and add roller elements to the steering system instead of metal to metal sliding surfaces. Quote an improvement, my tractor now feels like it has power steering!

I lifted both wheels off the ground using a floor jack, and removed the E-clips, one side at a time. I cleaned up the old grease, and removed all that would come off. When you install, to make the E-clip fit, you remove all, and use the thinnest washer. Grease the knuckle a bit, and let it down. The bearings should relieve a lot of friction due to the weight of the engine directly above. The fit very nicely and provide two new surfaces for the rollers to ride on. You remove all the other washers except the thinnest so you have good smooth surfaces. For the price a pretty good deal.
