I had to snip a tiny bit that stuck out at the ends to make it fit our holder, on which the spring must have died. Took all of 2 mins. It just works.

Sometimes these just disappear, but thankfully, these replacement spindles work great! The plastic, spring-loaded design makes them easy to install, and they hold the toilet paper securely.
