So many supposed pressure compensates drip irrigation outlets just don't drip, but stream. Even with 15 psi regulators (that cost about $20, not $150) it remains a fight to reduce and control too high pressure. Drumm roll please. Enter the mighty needle valve! Perfectly adjusts each drip irrigation branch. Watch for it's directional arrow upon installation. Use bushings to make it fit 1/2 IPT. Big outdoor plants get the water direct off my 15 psi regulator. Portch plants are on a 15 psi branch and then behind these needle valves open only 1/4 turn. Perfect drip flow control. Mark the valve handle with a big black marker so it is easy to tell how open the valve is. Trial and error and it will work perfectly.

Prior to purchasing this valve, I've tried numerous needle valves for controlling the water flow for a bird-bath dripper. Even with a pressure reducer on the water line, all have failed to consistently control the drip rate. This valve is outstanding. I can control the drip rate from slow to fast and it consistently delivers at the set rate. If I need to refill the bath after a cleaning, it is easy to fully open the valve and then reduce it back to a good drip rate. Wish I had found this valve before wasting time on all the other ones that I tried.

There is not a whole lot to say here. If you're looking for a needle valve, this does exactly what a needle valve is supposed to do. I use it to control the water rate into a dephlegmator on top of a column still, it has all the precision that I need for this application.

This valve will work perfectly for my intended purpose of metering a compressed air flow. Since I have worked as a machinist for the past 35 years I couldn't resist disassembling the valve and inspecting it under my 10X stereo microscope. The machining is of acceptable quality on the inside of the valve but it appears the cutting tools were not overly sharp so the finish is not as smooth as it should be but no big deal. The big deal for some is that the valve was full of machining chips which could blow out of the valve and cause problems downstream. I will disassemble all my valves before putting them into service and finish the deburring that should have been done at the factory so the chips don't lodge in the solenoid valve which is downstream of this valve and cause problems with it. Would I purchase these valves again? Yes, absolutely. They were very inexpensive and after disassembly and cleaning will do exactly what I need them to do for a very long time.
