This is a fine enough hinge, maybe a bit pricey for what is ultimately two pieces of plastic and a metal rod (minor gripe the rod in the middle of the hinge is metal and might rust over time especially with salty water). The problem comes in in trying to use these hinges for an acrylic custom cut lid. I made a two piece lid for my 36 gallon bow front and using two of these figured it would be sturdy enough. I was wrong, the lid which didn't bow in the middle before now dips significantly in the unsupported areas. My suggestion is if you are using these for an acrylic lid... Don't. You can get a live hinge for a similar price that will let you support the lid across the entire length and give you results you'll be happier with.On smaller lids where the hinge does cover the entire length without interruption these may work fine, but that's not how I used them and not my experience.

Much better than the foldable plastic hinges on an aquarium lid!
